Originally opened in the late 1890s, the historic Whangamomona Post Office once served as an important part of the local community along the Forgotten World Highway.

After permanently closing in 1988 during the region’s rural decline, the beautifully preserved heritage building has since been transformed into a cosy and private holiday stay.

Full of charm and history, it offers a unique chance to experience one of Whangamomona’s most iconic buildings.

the lodge

Our Lodge is a modern addition to the Whangamomona grounds, offering a comfortable and flexible stay for groups, families or couples.

Located just an easy 80 metre walk from the hotel, the lodge can accommodate up to 10 guests with a mix of twin or queen room configurations available.

Designed for comfort while keeping you close to the heart of the Republic, it’s the ideal base for relaxing after a day exploring the Forgotten World Highway.
